Win a FREE SIGNED copy of SHE'S SO DEAD TO US in book OR CD format

This past week has been completely insane for me, and not for the reasons you might think. Yes, my new book comes out THIS TUESDAY, so you'd probably assume I was busy running around to bookstores and libraries promoting it--which I am--but I've also been doing the single most stressful thing known to woman, aside from giving birth.

I've been moving. And not just from one house to another. No. Not I. I can't do things the simple way, even if I try to. Instead, I packed my entire life (and those of my husband and son) onto a truck on Monday to move in with my in law's for four days and move into my new house on Friday. You see, we were supposed to close the deals on both our old house and our new house on Wednesday, but because of some bank snafu, our buyers were unable to, well, buy that day. And now I have to wait until next week so I can both sell my house and buy my new one. IF, of course, everything is un-snafu-ed by then. Meanwhile, I'm sleeping on my in law's couch, while M & B sleep in the guest room, working on my crappy laptop all over Bergen County, NOT going to the gym (which is killing me), eating like crap (also killing me), and not entirely getting to enjoy the fact that SHE'S SO DEAD TO US is hitting stores in. like 48 hours.

So why am I telling you this? Well, partially because I felt like a good venting, but also beacuse the bright spot in all this has been the delivery of two separate boxes to my door. (The old door. At the old house. Which I have to drop by periodically to pick up my mail.) The first was a big box full of SHE'S SO DEAD TO US books, hot off the press. The second was a smaller box filled with copeis of the MP3 on CD. It was so cool to see the audio version! The CD is actually pink. A pink CD. What could be better!?

I'm so excited about the arrival of these gifts, I've decided to give away one of each. One lucky winner will receive a signed copy of the book, the other will receive a signed copy of the CD!

All you need to do to enter is comment on this blog and tell me which you'd rather win, and why you'd prefer the book over the CD or vice versa.

I'll take entries until 10pm EST tonight and inform the winner tomorrow morning! US residents only, please! Now get commenting!

i'd rather win the book. mostly because i like imagining the voices of the characters. that sounds weird doesn't it? oh well. but for me it's more fun to read the book than just listening to it. :)

anywho, can't wait for the tuesdayyy!! :)

I would rather the book any day!!! My reason why? I love the vivid images that appear in my mind and being able to read it over and over again. Also because I can read at my own pace witch includes dramatic pauses!

If I won this contest I would rather win the book because I guess you could call me old fashioned. I LOVE reading books, I feel audio books are ruining the feeling of reading an actual book. I absolutely love going to the book store, it smells like books and coffee, the best smell ever. I love browsing the shelves looking for a book that catches my eyes. Then as I'm driving home I get so impatient because I want to start reading right away. Books are my get away. Being able to hold it in your hand and when there is an intense moment, you always have to turn the page to find out what happens next. Its that intensity theat builds up when you have to turn the pages. And then on a CD, some one else is reading it for you. When reading a book its up to your imagination to hear what the characters sound like. Thats why I would rather have a book. Sorry this is so super long, I am actually really passionate about books, they mean the most to me <3

I'd rather win the book than the audio CD because I read a lot faster than a CD. The CD would probably slow me down and I only use them for books that I find are difficult to understand and your books aren't difficult to understand at all, so I'd rather win the book than the audio CD. :)

I'd rather win the mp3, actually. I have a friend in Australia, and she always has to wait months after I've read your books to read them. So I wanna try to see if I could send the mp3 to her, so then we might actually be able to talk about the books when they come out! It's worth a try, I think(:

Sorry about entering in another contest... (;

I love reading books rather than listening because I like to reread what the characters had said; if its really funny or If i don't get whats happening. Also, If someone else is reading I can't imagine for myself what their voices sound like. Especially if their being sarcastic or funny I like reading for myself not listening to it. While I read Its like you are there and imagining the things, as they happen to the characters, in your head. When theres a really scary or shocking part I start reading reallly fast to see wat happens next. After something CRAZY just happens I like to stop reading and just process what just happened. I just find that the voice over doesn't fulfill all that actually reading a book can do!

Normally I was say BOOK BOOK BOOK, but I've been trying to get into this 'walking thing' for exercise lately. I love music but I'm wondering if I'd be more motivated by a book. I used to live in the country and walk and read but that was shall we say ummm dangerous LOL Soooo I was thinking of picking up an audio book. But winning one sounds WAY better! So ya, that's my choice, the mp3 copy please!!!

I would rather win the book because when I listen to books on CD I tend to zone out and then have no clue what's happening. Plus I love having the ability to re-read scenes that I enjoyed and taking breaks without worrying about loosing my place. Thanks for the contest! :)

Call me old fashioned but I am so anti electronic when it comes to books. So I would rather win the book. I love the smell and feel of a book and I love imaging how the characters sound in my head and not how a voice recorder makes them sound. Printed books will always be more valuable to me then books on cd.

I would rather win the book. I love the feel of the book in my hands. I can sit in my comfy chair, have a drink, and be whisked away by the pages that I am reading. If I listened to the cd, I would feel that I needed to be doing something else also. I would not have my full attention on the story.

I gotta go with the book. I absolutely love everything about reading books. The speed I can read at, the look, the feel, the smell, the sound of turning the pages! :)
And CD's while they are cool (especially since yours is pink!), just don't compare to books!

I would prefer the pink audio CD because I already ordered the book online from Barnes and Noble last night, and it is scheduled to ship tomorrow! I am very excited!! I do not have a single audio CD for any of my books because sometimes they cost too much and I enjoy reading the actual books more. So when else would I be able to have an autographed audio CD of a book I'll surely enjoy? Frankly, I would like anything that my favorite author signs!!

If I won, I would rather have to book. Mainly because I have this obsession with physically having the book and staring at the cover art for like 5 minutes before I actually start reading. Also I'm not really a big fan of audio books because sometimes the people that are reading just bother me. And half the time when I read I don't usually have my mp3 player with me or my laptop so its also more convenient. I am so excited for the book to come out! =D

I would prefer the book over the CD because I like something tangible when I read. I like being able to hold in my hands the story and being able to flip back to the front and look at the cover (especially because the cover for She's So Dead to Us is really awesome!!) every once in awhile. I like being able to read at my own pace (which a CD wouldn't exactly do) and I don't know about you, but I like going back and re-reading a certain part just to make sure of what happened or to laugh at something funny that was written. With the book instead of the CD, I could take it anywhere to read it and then people would see me reading it, be jealous, and go buy it for themselves haha! xD Also, with the book, I would be able to understand what's going on better because when I listen to something, it doesn't always stay stuck in my mind as well as when I actually READ it (which is why I always look up the lyrics for songs haha). And if I won the book, I would be able to come up with my own voices for the characters (in my head of course) instead of the same person reading the whole book on a CD. I'm so excited, so thanks for hosting this contest Kieran!!! :))

I would prefer a book over a cd because I like stuff that are actually in my precense so I can absorb the information more and I can't do that with a CD cause I will probably miss something and also because a book is less likely to get lost/broken ;) I know I already entered a contest but I just wanted to do it again cause its fun<3

Hey! I would like a book because I would like reading books so much more than listening to them, I can go at my own pace and reread my favorite parts! I like being able to use my imagination as to what the characters sound like and its easier for me to read a book than listen to it, when I listen, it just goes in one ear and out the other.

Thanks Kieran I love all of your books and can't wait for the release!

Good luck on the move! Next month I move for the third time in two years. I'm getting pretty good at it.

I'd rather have the book because A) The cover is beautiful and I want to touch it and B) I take any book I'm reading with me everywhere. If I pick up my bag and it's too light because there is no book in it, I tend to freak out. I cannot leave the house without a book.

Congrats on almost-moving! Good luck with the closing!

I am so excited about the new book! I would prefer the book, I'm not much of an audio-reader! I listened to a book a few years ago and it drove me nuts not being able to read the words. Plus, I'm never sure what to do while listening.

Hmm...my comment didn't work, so I'll try again!
I would say a book over an audio cd without though. An audio CD is binding, to the speed of the one reading, to the inflection of the one reading...it takes away the freedom of a book. And the freedom of a book is the freedom to escape and go to another world. I'm not saying there's not pros to an audio cd, but I personally would rather stick to the orginal medium of a story, at least at first.

I would have to say the book. There's nothing like siting outside eating chocolate and reading a real, live book. Corny, but true! Plus, it's more satisfying to be able to place a book on your shelf when you're done reading.

Thanks for the contest and congrats on your soon release!!!

I'd love to win the book. I prefer an actual book versus any other media, I think I am just nostalgic and refuse to come into the 21st century when it comes to reading. :)

Congrats and good luck with the moving. I'm so excited I made an announcement on my blog that She's So Dead to Us will be stores Tuesday. On Barnes and Noble you can already buy the book. :)

I prefer to read the actual book. I've tried listening to a book, and I had a hard time just laying (or sitting) there listening to someone read the book to me. I didn't know what else to do. Plus I find it silly for one person to read and act out every character's lines. There's nothing more meaningful than reading the words yourself. I also like seeing the results of the author's long hours of writing in the book. Thanks for this opportunity.

Congrats on your upcoming event! And thanks for a great contest!

I would prefer the book versus the CD...I'm old school when it comes to books. I prefer to actually hold them in my hands and read them page by page!

I would prefer the actual book. Nothing beats the feel of paper on my hands, the anticipation of what will happen next as I turn the page, and the intoxicating smell of parchment. I am an old fashioned kind of gal. I would rather read what is in front of me than have someone else do it. I lose interest too quickly otherwise. I like giving characters voice. I want to be able to take my time and escape into the world you have created with your imagination and not try to multitask. If I'm not reading I will listen and get on my laptop--next thing you know I will have to replay it...and replay it again...and replay it again until I finally give up and go buy the book so I can see it in front of me. I have to be able to flip to the front and back and middle and 2 pages back so I can make sure I know what is going on, and that is much harder when dealing with audio recordings (mp3 or cd format)Plus, when I read and not just listen I feel like I am learning more and more.
